Homemade Matching/Memory Game

My daughter kept asking if we could play the memory/matching game. We didn't have one so, I decided to take a few minutes and make one. She really likes it. I want to definitely laminate it so it will last longer. I just used left over cardstock, scrapbooking paper, an Elmer's glue stick, and some left over number stickers from the ABC/123 blocks I made her a few weeks ago.

Her big brother even decided to sit in on a game or two.

Here are some photos.

Texas was GREAT!!

Hi Everyone. Well, we made it back in one piece after traveling to Texas to see where we will be moving to soon. It was nice. It reminded me a lot of Phoenix.(Minus the stucco and air pollution.) It was around 70 degrees everyday while we were there. The kids really liked it. We were even able to take them to a playground to play outside. I think this past winter of solid snow and 10 degrees or less was enough for my son. We looked at a lot of houses. We have narrowed it down to about 3 that we really both like. We just need to make a list of pro's and con's of each and go from there. My husbands start date at his new job will be May 1st so, we don't have much time. Right now I am still tired from all of that driving in the car and all of the eating out. Bleh! I was sooo ready for a home cooked meal. I will say that purchasing the Phillips dual screen mobile dvd player was a great idea. The kids loved it. We just gave them each their headphones and voila. Peace and Quiet.
It is however, good to be home. Even if it is only for a few weeks longer.

Don’t think you are a creative type ? Think Again!
cre·a·tive –adjective having the quality or power of creating.

It is fun to create things and be creative.
Some things I'm good at like drawing and decorating. Others, not so sewing. I would love to learn how to sew or even learn how to quilt. Cake decorating...something else I wish I could do really well (especially, on my kids birthdays). I also wish I was better at gardening.I think it is awesome that there are people who are able to grow and enjoy their own vegetables and fruits.
Everyone can't be great at everything but, we can all create or be creative. Yes, even the Nay Sayers out there are creating all the time. You don't have to be artistic or even particularly talented to create. If you stop to pick up trash on the ground, or take the time to recycle your own household garbage then that is creating a cleaner world. If you take the time to hold the door open for someone, or let the person with 2 items in front of your shopping cart,(that is busting at its seams), you are creating a kinder world and a positive memory for others. When you spend time with your spouse, kid(s), friends, family… you are creating stronger relationships and better human beings. When someone sees you helping others it can create an understanding of compassion.
So…think again the next time someone asks if you are creative. This can be your answer.
”Yes, Yes I am…and so are you!”

These are a few of my favorite PBK (Pottery Barn Kids)

One of my favorite stores for furniture , decorating, and design for kids is Pottery Barn Kids. Our daughter is 2 1/2 and we recently sold her entire nursery set. Yes, the dresser, convertible crib, changing station, glider, and ottoman. She does have a really cute twin sleigh bed that we were very blessed to have given to us by a friend of ours at church. But, that is it. Her poor little room looks so bare. I want to decorate and buy her new furniture but, I am waiting until we have moved into our new home in Texas.(I promise I will post more on that in the near future.)So, I went online to PBK and found the cutest decor, bedding ,and furniture.I thought I would share some of my favorites with you.

Do you have a favorite place to shop that you go to for decorating or receiving design inspirations for your child's room? If so, please share! Thanks .

ABC Blocks (Part 2)

I finally finished the ABC blocks for my daughter that I had previously posted about here.I think they turned out really cute. I did end up going with stickers for the lettering but, not the ones I originally purchased. I was able to make blocks with all upper case and all lower case letters. I even made 3 blocks with numbers too!

Here is the finished product.

If you have a chance, let me know what you think. I was thinking of maybe doing a giveaway of a set of these if anyone is interested. This set I made for my daughter but I could definitely do something for a little boy too.
